. Green Township was formely part of Sterling Township. It became its own township on 12-02-1834. The name was chosen by Joseph Kratzer who was active in its separation from Sterling.
Kratzer named the Township after his home town of Greenbush.
Mt Orab the largest village in the Township was founder in 1850 by Daniel Keether.

Greenbush wa slaided out in May of 1838 by Joseph Kratzer and the area was surveyed by John D White , the former school master of Ulysses S Grant
Benton a little village north of Mt Orab was laided out in 1838 by BH Gardner
